Hanamichi Sakuragi is a freshman and knows not how to quit in the game, in fact when the team is in amidst of defeat, he changes the mood and lifts the fighting spirit of the entire Shohoku Team. He started from the basics of Basketball to a mastery in each department, almost everyone say that he learned very fast in a short period of time. Being known for his high leaping ability, blocking shots, flexibility, superior stamina and monstrous job in grabbing rebounds, he found himself and earned the title as Kanagawa’s "King of Rebound." Though he's not that tall for being a Center, his leaping ability can be said on the top level. Being unpredictable in almost game...he deserves to be called tensai (genius). By the time they know why he called himself a tensai... it'll be too late for them!
