THE
STORY
Rurouni Kenshin takes place 11 years into the Meiji era (1878) in
Japan. The story revolves around a rurouni (wonderer) named Himura
Kenshin and the ones around him. It starts off with Kenshin wondering
into Tokyo, in the middle of the street he encounters Kamiya Kaoru...
well not really encounters... She thought he was the serial killer,
hitokiri battousai who was killing people around the area.(not that
she actually knew that he was the real battousai). A man by the
name of Himura Gohei is actually going around faking that he's battousai
and killing people. When Kaoru heard the police whistle, she quickly
left Kenshin to attack Gohei, but Gohei is double or triple her
size, and he's using a real katana, where in contrast Kaoru is using
a bamboo sword. Kenshin, with his lighting speed saved Kaoru from
Gohei. Later on, more characters are introduced into the story.
The show's got it all, from romance to action to comedy. It's got
great seiyuu(voice actor/actress) and great animation. Not to mention
contain many good characters. well i'll end my crappy story intro...i
probably already made the show sound boring when it's amazing...
i'll just give you some brief info.
Rurouni Kenshin first started out
as a manga in 1994. Drawn by the ever so talented Nobuhiro Watsuki
sensei. The Manga ended 1999 with 28 volumes. Rurouni Kenshin is
available in Japanese, Chinese, and Korean (could be more, but I'm
not sure.) RK was then made into an anime series. The first episode
was aired on January 10, 1996. The last episode aired on September
8, 1998.
ANIME SERIES-- 95 episodes ( 4 unaired )
MOVIE-- 1 movie, "Ishin shi shi requiem"
LOST EPISODE-- Episode 95, a special episode that was never aired,
but can be purchased.
MANGA-- 28 volumes
OVA 1-- 4 part ova all released ; OVA 2 -- 4 part ova all released
"seisouhen"
GAME-- 2 games released, a fighting game, and a RPG. Released in
Japan.
The manga and the t.v. series of course has differences. The t.v.
series has a lot of filler episodes. The T.V. series and the manga
spilt ways after the kyoto arc. The OVA covers the memory arc that
was within the Jinnchuu arc (revenge arc). The OVA is not to be
missed, it's extremely good!!! The movie has it's own story. As
for the lost episode. It's a Kenshin Kaoru episode.. it's pretty
cute, if you're a Kenshin Kaoru fan, I think you'll like it.
For disclaimers: 'I do not own Rurouni Kenshin, Nobuhiro Watsuki does...'
