Practice game between Takezono and Shohoku before the elimination games begin. Oda, Takezono's ace and a rivalry of Hanamichi during Junior days, was mad at him for he do not deserve to wear the basketball uniform for he is a troublemaker. His girlfriend Yoko, the 50th  girl who dropped Hanamichi, met Sakuragi in their school and have a little talk and accidentally saw them together by Oda. Insulted Hanamichi and promised to beat him at his own way basketball. Sakuragi showed composure on the court as he outhustle Oda during the practice game. For Hanamichi, Oda was not his enemy but rather the game itself. And even the coach of Takezono gave him a round of applause for the efforts he showed in the game. Though the score was not shown, Shohoku won by just four (4) points.
